Absolutely fantastic! Checking in and out was super easy - both the hotel staff that we dealt with were VERY polite and friendly. The room was incredible - it was more than we were expecting! I would definitely recommend staying here.

I had a room at the very top of the hotel and found it very difficult to get to. I was moved with no problem to a fabulous first floor room.

The only thing that wasn`t spot on (we didn`t eat there so not sure about the food) was completely out of their control I suppose. Fire alarm went off at 6.20am leaving us stuck outside (myself without shoes, doh!) for a good half an hour.

The hotel was lovely and so was the room, but we didnt get much sleep there was a door banging through out the night in the hallway, the sound of trains and there was a boxed in waste pipe beside the bed which you could hear water going down it for most of the night.we went to relax and came home tired, a bit dissapointed as it was our anniversary.

great big room a little tired but clean and tidy,staff pleasant and helpfull, just a shame the deal did not include breakfast.Ideally locate for the theatre, which was a great bonus for us as we had booked in for a show.The staff that helped with our luggage were great fun, its a refreshing change to meet staff with great senses of humour, i feel we do it well in yorkshire

found the room quite chilly, and the noise of the railway woke me regularly through the night, but overall a pleasant stay.

Too much traffic noise and revellers shouting outside. The breakfast was OK but we had to struggle for space on the table as no-one was clearing them.

Stayed at the hotel as it was east for the theatre. Staff friendly, o=r first room smelt of cigarettes but was quickly changed by reception staff. Not there fault. Breakfast was of good quality. i would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Reception was efficient, polite an friendly and the rooms were really lovely and the bed super comfortable! My stay was marred only slightly by the poor quality of our evening meal the chips (all five of them!!) were overcooked, the bread was dry and 2 meals did not arrive and were poorly cooked - the chef had gone home and the waiter did the best he could to sort things out. I would, however, not hesitate to stay here again as it`s excellent value for money.

For anyone visiting Manchester I would thoroughly recommend the Palace Hotel. A very welcoming and friendly staff,as well as comfortable rooms, albeit without a mini bar, great dining, spacious lounges and impressive style and decor. I will certainly be staying there again.

Lovely building, very comfortable room, great service, brilliant city centre position yet no noise in room. Only thing I would suggest could be improved is when i was there, there was a stale quite unpleasant kind of smell - a bit like drains? - in the lobby. However, overall a fantastic hotel.

My room was isolated near some plant which ran all night. Could have been hung, drawn and quartered and no body would have known. Even the newspaper was not delivered so I could have been undiscovered for days.Expensive for what you got. Breakfast at £30 was a nonsense.

The Palace Hotel is easy to locate thanks to the striking clock tower visible on the Manchester Skyline. Although the reception staff were too stretched for a speedy check-in, they were friendly and accommodating. The room was gorgeous, spacious with fabulous high ceilings, though no biscuits on the tea tray :(. I would definitely stay again, although never on St. George`s Day thanks to the raucous celebrations led by an over enthusiastic out-of-tune crooner hired for the event, which seriously marred our enjoyment of the superb meal at Tempus restaurant.

Excellent service but was disappointed that even though there were empty rooms, we had to pay for early access and there was no free upgrade as mentioned on line. Breakfast was great too.

Overall good hotel, but bedroom (164) in need of some refurbishment and some means of cleaning the very dirty outside windows needs addressing. Tempus bar very good ambience and staff. Breakfast choice (particularly the extra choice board) very good and again staff very good. Good hotel for a really good weekend break but shabbiness and dirty windows slightly spoiled it.

Although all the relevant equipment was available I was surprised this was rated 4 star. Perhaps we were unfortunate in our rooms, but they were in the old services areas of the original victorian building and accessed via long musty depressing corridors, and almost under the arches of the railway line. Lovely old building but needs more TLC and to be more welcoming. I would consider staying again but ask for rooms above street level and not on railway line. Used as a conference and exhibition venue and showing signs of wear and tear. Quite expensive too.

It`s always a pleasure to stay at the Palace: it`s quirky, the building is hilariously grand and imaginatively converted, the rooms interesting and comfortable, breakfast nicely done, and the staff cheerful and helpful. The crazy arrangement of the lifts and the slightly `Shining` feel to the corridors are part of the charm when one`s feeling cheerful; can be a bit tiring when exhaustion has set in.

Good value for money, would certainly book again and recommend to anyone.
