"Clean, friendly staff & functional, but with some minor issues"

From the outside the hotel looks a total dump, but once we were handed the entry card to the room & we were in the room we felt more at ease. Although basic, the room was very clean & quite comfortable. Two things need immediate attention: the toilet brush holder was missing & needs replacing, as does the missing door handle of the sliding door from the room to the bathroom/toilet. Overall we`d recommend the place for a short stay.

"Nice hotel, staff were quite friendly, room was very small"

Would stay there again if we were looking for somewhere cheap but it wasn`t a luxury stay. Breakfast was quite basic but was still nice.

"7 out of 10 for what we paid."

Room was clean and staff polite and helpfull with reasonable english. Thought some English channels on tv would improve the stay if only news as after a long walking day it helps to relax and catch up for an hour before retiring and maybe smarten up the outside a little. We found it a good base for looking around paris and enjoyed our stay so if we return we would consider booking the hotel Faubourg (put some english chanels on tv please).

Despite booking a Twin room two months in advance, they only told me on my arrival that there was only a Double available. They did put another (small) bed in the room though, to their credit, and moved me to a twin for my second night. The bathroom on the first night had a leaking shower head, and the second room had badly fitted shower unit. Next time, I`ll stay at an Ibis - it`s about the same price, but much better.

"A nice stay"

We booked a double room for 3 nights and we had a very nice time there.Clean sheets and towels, changed every day, a nice breakfast with plenty of food. The walls are thin indeed but you will need to remember that is a 3 star hotel.Friendly staff with a good english. To obtain a wifi password is a bit inconvienient(every day you need to ask for a new password). The area is a bit strange at night but not very different than Camden area in London at night. An overall nice stay and at their price...why not?(but please do not expect more that you would expect from a 3 star hotel).

"Have never been in a hotel worse than this"

No telephone connection in rooms, lift is as small as a coffin, the dust bins are faulty, fridge is so tiny and indeed out of order, no tea pots or kettles in rooms, no tea bags or little snacks? Who can claim it is 3-star hotel???

"Avoid!"

Our so-called "special" rate turned out not to be special, and was actually more than we would have paid had we walked in off the street. Our room was ridiculously small, the paint was peeling, and in the bathroom a mild act of contortion was required to sit on the toilet whilst avoiding the corner of the sink! For peole of a more portly build this really would be impossible!! I asked the man on the front desk to call me a taxi and a someone, whom I can only assume was his friend, turned up in an unlicenced car(a "special" taxi apparently) and tried to charge me twice the standard fare. I politely declined!

"Going by the advert on the hotel and brochour it was completely different."

I found the room to small no tea/coffee facility. The stairs were a bit dangerous, carpet very worn. The elivator a discrace. Paint work very shabby, as redards to a bar shocking. I would not go back to hotel again.

"Be prepared to check out early"

We went to hotel faubourg last Saturday for a one night stay. The area is really dodgy ,the hotel need major renovation, everything looked tired and smelt of damp. The bar was closed at weekend and the cherry on the cake we got woken up by the cleaning staff early even though we put the (do not disturb sign on the door),telling us to hurry up as they had to carry on with their work. I forgot to mention we asked to change bedroom when we arrived. Ultimately an awfull experience and truly expensive. Don`t be fooled by the images as it is nothing compare in reality.

"Room"

A little misleading from photo. Tiny but manageable. Lobby needs some updating. Limited Internet but nice place. Doubtful I`d stay there again. Only if desperate. On up side it is very close to trains and guard de nord. Nice breakfast and hotel staff. The staff need uniform to look more professional.

"Great hotel in central location."

The hotel was great and had a lovely manager who was very helpful and always on hand for any Parisian advice or recommendations in the local area. He went beyond what was expected of him to make our stay in Paris brilliant. We were sad to leave but will definately be returning in the near future. Very relaxed atmosphere and staff.

We were both a little nervous about our stay at the Hotel Faubourg having read some of the reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom was a good size and we got clean towels every day, Not once did we feel that we weren`t completely safe in the area that the hotel was in and we just enjoyed the very good location. Being so close to the metro and Gare du Nord was a god send. For a comfortable bed and a great location I would definitely recommend the Hotel Faubourg.

"Not in a nice area, hotel still needs work."

On arriving after a long journey we were placed in their other hotel next door, which is of a poor standard and requires upgrading. After complaining we were transfered into the main hotel which has been refurbished but still old features carpets, lifts etc. Problems leaving early in the morning as receptionist was in the cellar making cakes for breakfast and the main door was locked and we were unable to leave without finding him. This is not the star rating given and we suggest that someone grades these hotels by visiting.

"Mixed review."

The room we stayed in was rather poky. Turning round in the shower meant turning the taps off with your backside, and bending down to pick up anything off the floor was a gymnastic feat. 2`6 beds provided - comfortable, but narrow. Very limited storage space - no drawers. The cellar where breakfast is served is nice, except again that it is crammed with tables. I sat with my back more or less on the fire extinguisher. They seemed to be having problems keeping the food / juice / knives stocked up. The Wifi signal that is strong enough to reach the 4th floor did not get beyond "assigning IP address" . The one that did work was "out of range". The plug in our bathroom did not hold the water in the basin.

The hotel is situated on a main road, which is in a rougher district than we thought. The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms are decorated OK. However, our double room was small, with the bed against one wall of the room. The bathroom also on small size, but did have a good shower. We were on the 6th floor and the hotel only has a lift that takes 2 persons at a time, which can be a problem for a family. Would recommend the hotel if you only require room to sleep and not spend any of the day in the room, as we had only a small window, which overlooked back of hotel. However, the metro station was very near.

"you get what you pay for"

For the price, this hotel was as expected. A generally clean room (carpet didn`t appear to be hoovered even once while we were there) A good location, 2mins walk from a metro station, and 5mins walk from the larger Gare du nord. Hotel signage is rather low key-resulting in myself and my friend completely walking past it. A good hotel for a base for exploring Paris.

"Good value for location near the Gare du Nord"

We found the initial entrance a bit confusing after a long train journey. Not helped by an attempt to steal my wife`s purse by intruders from the street in the hotel entyrance. We found the accomodation warm and comfortable and clean. The corridors and stairs are narrow and dingy but we would come again.

"A budget hotel - convenient for Gare du Nord and La Chapelle metro. In multi-ethnic area. "

For the price it is adequate - small but reasonably decorated rooms/good showers/clean on the whole. Many guests were young people and so quite noisy at night. Very decent breakfast.
