Would not recommend staying at this hotel and seeing motown show it is quite a way out!
Have used this hotel before. A very warm welcome from Molly at reception and made to feel very welcome. The hotel is brilliantly situated because it is just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of London but a ten minute walk to the nearest underground and you are in theatre land within minutes. Room very comfortable and breakfast brilliant. Cannot fault it.
Car parking is so limited and if you are lucky enough to get a space they rip you off with charges, 30.00 per day to park at hotel, this hotel has 423 rooms and 12 parking spaces , really ?
The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and happy. The bed was really comfy and the spa and swimming pool was great. The food was absolutely delicious. Definately recommend the two course pre fixed menu of the chicken parfait starter and the flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce. We had this twice as it was gorgeous. Malek our waiter was a really nice and friendly guy who was very polite and cared about how well we were looked after
Really comfortable excellent staff and a really good breakfast well worth every penny
Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Enjoyed the night stay in excellent accomdation.
Hotel itself felt a bit `tired`. However, it was clean and comfortable. All the staff were great and a particularly nice touch was the spread red rose petals in a heart shape and sculptured towels on our bed, for our wedding anniversary. The breakfast was very good and value for money.
Very noisy refuse collection around midnight disturbed us as we had to keep windows open for airflow. Staff all very helpful.
Double bed was two single beds put together. Kettle was in a bottom drawer so didn`t find it until check out. Shower had no cold water
The hotel was ok I think I would of rather have had one a little bit more central and if I had realised I would have chose a better room the room said double standed and I think it was poor, had a meal in the hotel last night and the service was poor ordered garlic bread as a starter, then a steak we got the garlic bread when we had finished our steak, ordered a desert and asked if they had a Irish coffee I got my desert and we didn`t get the Irish coffee, so not brilliant, but on the hole we had a great time I would definitely book with hotel direct again but choose another hotel the train journey was very good getting us there in 2 1/2 hours
My grandson and I stayed for 4 nights (room only). The hotel was bright and cheerful with very helpful staff. Our room was spotless and the beds very comfortable. The pool was good but do check when the guests can use it as they do private swimming lessons. We did have breakfast on our last morning and it was a very reasonable price for myself and children eat free. The hotel is a short walk from both tube and bus. Very good.
Lovely hotel but booked 2 twin rooms expected to be on same floor but weren`t and one was above foyer therefore not much sleep was got because of noise
Hotel very smart downstairs. Bar facilities and food very good but rooms were tired and in need of decorating
Staff very friendly. Too far out from the centre. Old fashioned interior and very basic but clean. Bar not stocked very well even had no crisps! For the price in cabs into town I would rather pay more for a better hotel closer.
There was a hen party who would not share the jacuzzi at all or many of the leisure facilities.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and made us feel at home. The entrance, and downstairs was luxurious, the pool area was a little tired in decor but still lovely as were the bedrooms in all we would stay again and recommend this hotel, we loved the breakfast so much choice and the restaurant is immaculate, Thank you all!
Hotel was lovely with an indoor pool which was very clean.
Slightly off the beaten track but clean and good service
Positives included friendly, helpful staff, nice breakfast for only a little extra. Let down by poorly flushing toilet (had difficulty flushing paper even). And not having air conditioning in hot weather.
Very good fitness suite and small but comfortable room. Roof fan and drinks fridge inoperative.
Room was not ready upon our arrival at 2.45pm. Had to wait nearly two hours in reception. Carpet by the bathroom door was very wet - left towel over it - turned the towel bright yellow!!
Despite arriving at the hotel an hour after check in time we were kept waiting a further half hour. Rooms were pleasant. Housekeeping seems to be short of staff. They came knocking to do the room at 1715 while we were showering for the evening. Had to keep going to reception to get milk coffee tea bags etc. Location was good. Overall not terrible but wouldn`t recommend it.
Hotel was ok. Room small and view, well there wasn`t one apart from a dirty old building right outside our window. My 8 year old daughter was very upset as wasn`t allowed to use the swimming pool even though she is a really strong swimmer and diver. She could go if I went in but I can`t swim so why would it be ok for me to go in, even though I can`t swim, but she can`t even though she can swim well!? I`m the one who would need help, not her!
Has everything you need in a hotel and more! Also we were able to use the swimming pool etc after check out x
Reception constantly smells of cigarette smoke. TV not working reported to reception but no one arrived to fix. Lights in room constantly flickering. Room old and tired needing renovation. Room 1624 view ok.
The hotel is lovely, however, due to the recent heatwave a fan was placed in the room, yet sounded like a jumbo jet and not very good. The last two nights we had to sleep with cold wet towels to keep cool. The sun as stifling at 7am even with the curtains closed. We were disappointed at the skateboarders outside on the corner every night we came back to the hotel drinking cans of lager and smoking cannabis. I did mention it to reception on the first night.. We enjoyed our stay apart from those points. Very comfy bed, good amenities.
The Thistle Barbican Hotel was not what I would expect from a Thistle hotel and quite honestly we would have been happier in a Travelodge. The room for what we payed was very small and basic. There was no air conditioning and the room was stifling hot. The tiles in the bathroom floor in room 1119 were grubby and definitely needed re grouting. The fan provided didn`t help as it was very noisy. I have stayed at Premier Inns with better rooms with more space, air con and better facilities. At least you get a nice comfy sofa at Premier Inn. This wasn`t the only issue. The check in was very slow and the staff not too pleasant either. Didn`t feel very welcomed to be honest. First morning at breakfast, they ran out of so many things we wanted food wise. Standard of food tasted mediocre compared to premier inn and travelodges we have used. The Bar had a very limited variety of drink on tap and was very pricey we thought. Very disappointed.
Staff brilliant and they couldnt be more helpful. Breakfast good but our room on the 6th floor was very very tired and in dire need of a complete refurbishment. Not pleasant to be in
Room was clean and tidy an the shower was spot on. Air-Con was a blessing and worked perfectly. The only issue was the TV seemed to suffer from static on every channel...
The hotel gave us an upgrade (room with airco) since the temperature was very high. Once in the we were in the room, the aircon was broken and they would not give us an other room. There was a lot of noise because the workers outside. The bathroom was not clean, parts were broken. The refrigerator was hot and empty. The distance to the nearest underground was 20 min walk. We were very disappointed and will never return to this hotel!
Helpful staff , clean and tidy , value for money.
Clean spacious room. Lovely foyer to sit and chat.and a very tasty breakfast.
Rooms in building 2 were stuffy and poorly ventilated. reception staff were poor. restaurant staff were very efficient and very good.
Hotel was ok - standard room - we had booked a twin but were given a double. Reception was very slow and understaffed. Lots of other staff wandering round trying to look busy whilst there was quite a queue. Confusing to find your room - we went to 5th floor and followed signs to our room and then all of a sudden no signs to tell us which direction to go in. We ended up having to wander up one corridor only to have to turn back and go along another corridor. Frustrating! We booked a taxi to take us to our show but it didnt turn up and so we had to wait about another 15/20 minutes to talk to the slow reception staff and in the end one of the other taxi drivers agreed to take us. Taxi company claimed it wasnt booked but we had had confirmation that it was from the hotel reception. TV was awful. No good reception. It was fine for 1 night and not awful but these little things could make it a lot better.
A little bit far to show cab both ways. Hotel absolutely fabulous
