Comfortable room. Friendly, helpful staff.

Check in was 3pm, we arrived at 2pm and our rooms were ready which was great. Very comfortable beds, modern style rooms, nice bar and great breakfast. It was good that we had up to 11am for breakfast and check out was noon. Hotel was a great location for shops, princes street and playhouse. Overall a great stay and would come back again.

Really enjoyed our one night stay at the St James staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast good and well worth the money. Will use the hotel again on our visits to Edinburgh .

We stayed 3 nights at st James Edinburgh. The bedroom was comfortable and clean and the food was excellent. No complaints although I would suggest upgrading the toilet roll to a softer brand- the toilet roll was quite hard and we ended up buying our own. Also we were unable to open the bedroom window

A mirror over the desk would have been helpfull for the lady.

Have stayed here severel times and have always emjoyed my stay staff very friendly. Good Breakfasts and lovely and handy for princess street. Will definately stay again

I would firstly like to say a huge thanks to staff for their friendly manner and their eagerness to be helpfull. The hotel was very welcoming and is of gorgeous design both inside rooms and out. The food was a great standard (especially the breakfast!!) and the location is literally right beside a shopping centre, cinema and restraunts. Prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely reccomend :) Thanks again

All staff were really friendly and helpful. I had a really good stay. Some of the other guests were a bit noisy but not the hotels fault. Room was lovely and clean. Very impressed at the size of the double bed - huge. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall the hotel was good. The staff were friendly and helpful, the full Scottish breakfast was excellent. However the en-suite bathroom left a lot to be desired, the shower tiles grouting was very dirty and the shower curtain stained the lack of an extractor fan made our room muggy. Cleaning the grouting with bleach and replacing the shower curtain would have cost very little and made our visit a better experience. Not sure if I would return to this hotel again even with the good service and food, no excuse for a dirty bathroom.

Great Hotel, Lovely Staff that are always willing to help. Very Clean and modern.

The Concierge was very nice and helpful but the desk staff need to get a smile on there faces no matter what time it is. We asked a question at 9.30 at night from the desk clarke and it was like we asked for a money loan. Not a nice experience at all. Room staff very nice.

Would use the King James again, good staff, good food and good location.

Our room was good and we enjoyed our stay but the hotel has a few problems that need sorting. eg lifts/ice machine out of order. The reception was poorly staffed & not particularly helpful. For a similar price we have stayed in much better hotels in Edinburgh and I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.

We were disappointed with this hotel. Reception was understaffed and unhelpful. The room was `tired`. Mould in bathroom/broken fittings/no bedside cabinet. Hotel facilities poor - one lift not working/ice machine not working/no internet facilities available/ 3 Tvs in inhospitable bar. For the price we paid, we expected much better.

We only stayed for 1 night, I would have loved to stay longer. The hotel staff were really friendly, breakfast was nice with plenty of choice, location perfect for what we wanted to do.

didnt stay at king james hotel because they overbooked the rooms so we had to stay elsewhere.............which was very good

Very nice hotel. Shame wifi is not included in the room price - even B&B`s include it nowadays.Room 418 had a seal missing from the shower screen and consequently made a puddle on the floor - obviously been like this for some while as the bath panel had a lot of water damage. The meals were excellent and the staff very friendly but professional.

Excellent hotel - room and breakfast first class - only setback is view from back rooms, awful !

For such a high standard of room we were surprised there were no tea making facilities in the room itself.

Dining experience very good, with attentive staff. We`ll be back!

Great stay and had first class service and great food.

I was most surprised to have to afford the £15 per night parking fee. Otherwise, good location, good breakfast at good price as well as pleasant staff and waitress service.

In general the hotel was clean and tidy and in a good location but the matress on our bed was badly stained. Not a geat problem with clean sheets but when the sheet moved then the stain were visable. Staff were friendly and helpfull.
