Room fine & bed very comfortable, but no hot water from the shower.
Not bad - basic, good shower though!
Sorry, but the breakfast was awful: the eggs and sausage were not cooked through nad the scrambled egg was full of water.
The rooms were very clean and have had a recent refurbishment. The breakfast offer was very good and the service very good. No issues with stay.
Nice Hotel.great price, room cold on arrival but i turned the heating on,Nice flat screen tv,room small but for one person, and one night its was adequate...shower fabulous very powerful and hot.Excellent on check in and check out, night staff very funny and helpful.Overall a great time and a good nights sleep.I will tell my friends about this hotel for sure...
would stay again, as hotel in city centre area.
Not very clean, carpet/curtains disgusting, one lift working, doorway very narrow, tray charge too high, no Earl Grey tea available, not enough light to work at desk.
Hotel is in a good location. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was 1st class. Bedrooms were in need of a refit as they were not up to much. I would rate the hotel as a good 3 star but the bedrooms a average 2 star. Had a good stay but thought it was over priced for what it was.
For the price we paid for the room (£154 B&B) it was very small and was way overpriced. The room had damp coming through the ceiling and was also very cold, we had to put the heater on that had been left in the room.
The room was small and stuffy...also the bathroom was extremely old and I did not think it seemed to be very clean. We got a meal on the first night and I chose something from the menu but was informed that they had run out, the second meal I decided upon was also not available. I thought this was bad service and we were the second table to be eating.
OVERALL OK BUT BREAKFAST COULD HAVE BEEN WARMER
loved hotel staff and service Would recommend to anyone and will stay again
ARRIVING AT THE THISTLE FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKED GREAT, GREAT LOCATION,RECEPTION BAR ALL OF GROUNG FLOOR LOOKED GREAT, STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THEN WE WALKED INTO OUR ROOM ..........GOB SMACKED........IT WAS LIKE A RABBIT HUTCH, SMOKE ALARM HANGING OFF THE CEILING, NO VALANCE ON THE BED BASE, TILES BEHIND TOILET ALL LOOSE AND WORST OF ALL IT FELT LIKE A PRISON CELL OR DUNGEON AS THE VIEW FROM THE WINDOW WAS A METAL TANK LIKE A WATER TANK NO NATURAL LIGHT AT ALL. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THISTLE HAVE STAYED IN PREMIER INNS WITH FAR NICER BEDROOMS FOR HALF THE PRICE :-(
Very friendly reception and bar staff. But it was let down by the room.... the bathroom wasn`t cleaned proplerly (I had to clean the toilet seat before I used it!!), hair in the bath, and the teaspoons and kettle weren`t cleaned properly after the last guests.
I booked a twin room for myself and my friend. I telephoned before arrival to explain that it was a special weekend as she has had a very bad year and asked for a good room. However, room 454 had incredibly thin walls, we heard 455`s tv til the early hours (not too much of a problem) but when the occupants of room 453 arrived back to their room at 3.45am, shouting `here we go` etc, they obviously had more than the two occupants, at least 3 or 4 voices were heard and the door was forced to the degree that in the morning it appeared damage. The noise was such that we woke, startled, and alarmed, as someone tried our door as well. Although the hotel responded to our worries by informing security, I am amazed that these people were then allowed to stay another night. All in all, what was meant to be a treat for my sister, was totally unrelaxing as the following night we slept very badly for fear of a repeat performance.
I don`t think this was value for money at £70 for a single occupancy room - the corridor smelt of paint, and indeed when I left there were painters painting it right outside my room! The room itself was clean and comfortable but so hot I slept extremely badly. Was disappointed not to be able to have a jacuzzi as it was out of order.
Location good, parking very near, rooms clean functional and small, corridors need to be refubished, 4 star ??? how...Reception staff helpful, a little to much information given when there was a que of 20 people waiting to check in, re breakfast, trying to promote the breakfast in a monatone voice repeated over and over again.
We had a very enjoyable stay. The only comment I feel we should make is that there was a fire alarm activitated on the Saturday night. When me an my husband along with friends of ours and people from the pub tried to exit out of `nearest` fire exit we were told it was locked and to go to the front door upon reaching the front door we were again told that that was locked we were directed to the back ot the hotel where the meeting point was only to find that that is where the fire was and was engulfed in smoke. I think we should have been able to exit out the nearest fire exit door then been instructed to meet round the rear of the hotel. appart from that we had a extremely pleasent stay at your hotel. The breakfast was lovely. Thank you
Not sure if all rooms were the same but the ones I was in could be doing with being refurbished as they seemed a bit dated. The place wasn`t really dirty but didn`t really feel clean either. Location was great though and staff were very nice. Wouldn`t rush back though
duvets too heavy would have been nice to have had a sheet as it was very hot with the duvet on.
Good friendly service with restaurant and bar service. I room at the side was overshadowed by a nearby building and spoilt it for me.
Was a clean and adequate room, however pictures on the website are slightly misleading. There should be more pictures of standard rooms.Friendly and helpful staff, would definitely stay again but not at the same price.
Perfect location for shopping and nite life. Very clean and friendly staff. Would definitely stay their again.
Glad this was just a one night stay, very central, but very average at side of some of the hotels I have stayed in Manchester. The write up said tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, there was only enough to make one drink and there was just one single biscuit. The room was quite small but clean. We stayed at this hotel after going to a concert at the MEN, when we returned we ordered drinks at the bar, which were the price you would expect for a hotel but the lemonade added to alcoholic drinks was flat. We requested a snack or a bag or crisps but they could not serve us with these at the bar, but we could go to our room and order them on room service!Probably would not stay there again, even though it had a central location.
I won`t be staying again - I paid over £140 for a pokey room (417). Hairdryer was broken and the bathroom fittings were grotty around the edges - tiles coming away around the boxing in of pipework etc. TV remote didn`t work and the TV buttons for switiching it on and off / volume etc were very tempremental. The corridor stank of old smoke. Clean room and bathroom but not good value for money. Stacey on reception was fabulous at check in.
Very convenient location, walking distance from Piccadilly and 10 mins walk to the MEN....no tea/coffee in the rooms which is always disappointing.
Nice clean room, friendly staff, ideally situated in the centre of manchester
If you are intending to stay for the weekend to either shop,go to a footy match or enjoy the night life this hotel is ideal as it is right in the heart of the city.
very nice hotel with pleasent & helpful staff . hope to stay again in 09 with family
Check-in: Very busy hotel, never seem to be enough staff on the desk at busy times.Rooms: OK but in need of refurbishment. Small but clean.Staff: Very helpful when asked.Food: Breakfast: Very good, but service not as good as usual due to many guests staying over after Christmas parties. Evening meal excellent. Good choice, good service, great value for money.Location: Centrally-placed, easy to get to shopsWould I come again? Yes if I can get a good price on the internet !
Friendly staff willling to help at anytime with that all important "smile"
Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Room was clean but very dated in appearance. The bathroom appeared to be clean until a closer look. There was a clump of hair in the bath plug hole and this detered me from taking a shower or using the bath. Very dissapointing for a four star hotel!
