This hotel is in a great location, and is in walking distance to the main attraction and the different theatres, which makes it ideal for a stay in London. It is easy to get to, and one thing I would say that would be helpful is that the hotel site should say it is directly next to the exit of the Charing Cross underground, where the taxis are, as I ended up walking down the strand trying to find it!Whilst when you are in the hotel you are unaware of all the city hussle and bustle outside, it was a bit noisy in the morning, due to guests and hotel staff noise, but that is quite common when you stay in hotels. I just wish the do not disturb sign did not just apply to your room being cleaned...I would still recommend this as a good place to stay, nice and clean, and friendly staff too.
Thank you Charing CrossCharming staff, lovely warm spotlessly clean room ,perfect position.for sightseeing Be back soon !
Breakfast a bit chaotic. No butter with toast which was delivered to table too early and therefore cold. No juice or fruit when went up first - remedied when asked for. Hot buffet difficult to keep warm so would have preferred cooked tp order.. Fruit salad very disappointing.
Good hotel could only be improved by having a proper lounge area for guests to sit and relax.
The hotel is ideally situated on the Strand, next door to Charing Cross Station, a short stoll to Trafalgar Square and close by to Covent Garden. The hotel is nicely decorated and in an impressive building. There is 1 person ahead of us in the queue as we checked in and we were given a glass of champagne and an apology for the wit (it was no more than 2 minutes). We had paid for a standard room in advance for one night. On arrival we were told that the hotel was fuly booked and upgraded to a junior suite. this was fabulous. A huge room, a bathroom with separate shower and bath. Good quality robes and slippers and a great view out towards trafalgar square. The oly slight downside was being so close to the station the room was a little noisy but everything else more than made up for it. I would definitelly recommend the hotel.
The location was fab, staff were polite, and the hotel was lovely. Loved the little touches like hotels all along the corridors. Only downside was the view from our room, bit grubby. But other than that we enjoyed our stay and loved how everything was on our doorstep
The hotel was in an ideal location, staff were very friendly and efficient. Room was clean and had usual mod cons. Pre- theatre meal was just right with ample time to walk to theatre. The evening meal was delicious with excellent quality food and service. The only low point was breakfast with cereal and fruit in impractical serving dishes and the cooked food cold and poor value for money . I would definitely stay there again especially for a theatre break but have breakfast elsewhere.
A clean spacious and friendly hotel. It was ideally situated for all main London attractions and the room was much bigger than many previous London hotels we have booked, The staff were friendly and helpful. Perhaps the only down side was breakfast which was buffet and some items were cold
Well organised. You could tell the staff knew exactly who should be doing what. Everyone very polite and courteous. No problems with check in and check out. Breakfast ample without being over the top. Surroundings lovely. Only tiny niggle was the shower leaked as there was no seal on the screen. More a problem for the hotel than to us. Good room service and nice to have a fridge in the room for your own drinks etc.
Fantastic location, splendour and attention to detail, The Charing Cross Hotel delivers better than FedEx !! I could not have chosen a better hotel, within yards of Trafalgar Square and only a short walking distance to The West End, China Town and Soho. The perfect location for a tourist to enjoy London`s many varied attractions. will definately return time and time again !!
We got a good rate for our 2 nights post- xmas treat. Attractive room with everything you need. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely interior design and tasteful Xmas decor and lovely tree..
The location is exceptional for Covent Garden, Leicester SQ, Trafalgar SQ, Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, Seven Dials, The National Gallery, Charing Cross Station for the Underground & National Rail Lines, plus too many more to mention. The staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and gracious. The room was beautiful and situated perfectly to see New Year`s Eve fireworks without the madness at the Embankment. The water pressure in the shower is awesome, much better than at home. The beds are comfortable and the linens are soft. We ate in the restaurant and even the food was terrific. Overall a 10+ I definitely recommend and would go back to stay there on holiday again.
Having arrived a bit early, we were nonetheless allowed to check into an upgraded room, the best decision ever. This room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Absolutely wonderful access to the Theatre Scene and a quick train to anywhere else. There was no noise from any train, despite the hotel being located above Charing Cross Station. The service was excellent, the staff friendly, the hotel clean and convenient and above all, great location. Will definitely stay here again.
Staff very friendly. Room spacious and well equipped. Breakfast more than adequate with very good choice.
nice room, good, and unoptrusive, service.
The hotel is in an excellent position - the only complaint is the uncomfortable bed
Over all we enjoyed our stay and the staff weere first class. However, we did have to ask to be moved as the room we were given was very small, this happened on a previous visit to so it may be a ploy of the hotels.......fill the small rooms and if you complain you get a slightly larger one! The rooms all around seem a little tired and in need of up dating, ourt bath had rust on the side and the toilet, clean, water was leaking into thhe room below. The location is probably one of the best in London for theatre, shopping and sight seeing. Right at the top of the price range for what it is but the location makes that inevitable.
this is the 2nd time we have been to a theatre break using the charing cross hotel.excellent, helpful, polite and happy staff.we are already planning to do this again next year.
The hotel stay was very nice throughout. Staff were helpful and room service prompt. The bathroom layout was a little tight but had everything you would expect. The only negative point i could say was that we recieved irregular phone calls throughout the morning and had to eventually pull the phones out of the wall as were hoping of a lie in!
Visited from California. Enjoyed our stay. Got 2 rooms & they were very comfortable & clean! The hotel is in a great location & is walking distance to Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Westminister Abbey, & great shopping & eateries. The hotel is over the Charing Cross Station & was very quiet inside. Will definitely stay here again!
Mean on supplies in room - no hot chocolate - no biscuits - minimal toiletries. And beer was a ridiculout price.
This was my first very enjoyable stay ing London. The hotel and staff was very welcoming and pleasant.
Rating would b jighrt if room had ppwer shower.
My fourth stay at the Charing X Hotel was enjoyable as always. Staf courteous, welcoming and friendly. Couldn`t have been better.
We booked the hotel for a mini break after having a lovely afternoon tea there in the summer. The room was small but very quiet and comfortable. We took advantage of the £10 full English breakfast offer which was very good. We have stayed in many overpriced and overrated hotels in London but found this among the best for comfort, convenience and value for money. We will definitely return.
Rooms very comfortable.Breakfast OK , bacon far too crispy and no option of kippers or smoked haddock. Shame the toast is brought as soon as you sit doen so its always cold by the time you are ready for it, but staff very friendley and polite. Would go back again.
Clean hotel. Would stay again as very convenient.
Staff were wonderful, suite was exceptional.
This was just the right location and standard and was the icing on the cake for a lovely weekend break.
nice room only criticism was that there was a constant drone from outside the window room 845
very good.... good rooms, well decorated, good space, we went in `deluxe double`, good shower, quiet, good hotel food, breakfast superb. good location for sites. 10 mins walk for most popular tourist sites. highly recommend.........
We were in one of the re-furbished rooms this time.Just few teething problems with equipment, but staff friendly and helpful.Prices have gone up since last year but suppose that is inevitable.
Very convenient, close to main line stations/underground and the right end of the Strand. Expected a slightly tatty room for a cheap overnight stay but our room on the 5th floor was really nice, warm and quiet! Nice to have a tea and coffee tray plus a couple of bottles of water. Additional bonus was partial view of the Thames - a real treat in the evening and at sunrise. Staff customer service was the best.
Fantastic, friendly, helpful staff. We upgraded the room and this was fabulous - only praise for the whole hotel experience.
