Whilst everything needed was available felt that as usual if one books through an agent and not directly with the hotel one is always given a low grade room! Something wrong with the water coming out of the taps in that a drink made with it was undrinkable. Would not like to be paying £9.95 for their breakfast, coffee undrinkable! but glad breakfast was included with the price. Staff friendly.
having blinds only at the bedroom window makes the room rather light at night - curtains would be nicesingle room was compact with a tiny shower room - the sink was in the showernice to have a choice of restaurants in the hotel - food was reasonably priced, plentiful and good quality.the stairs were awful and need to be made a lot smarter, perhaps then guests from floor 1, 2, 3 would use the stairs and not the lifts as these were in heavy demand at breakfast timevery convenient for the tubei would use this hotel again although it did feel very impersonal
Great hotel. Spotless rooms. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Tottenham Court Road tube is only two minutes walk away, so handy for getting around London. Theatres, Soho and China town all within walking distance.I would certainly stay at St Giles again.
This hotel ticks all the right boxes. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The shower in our room was a on the small side, but thats the only critisism. Its right in the heart of the hustle and bustle. Great!
Reasonably quiet good nights sleep room warm but not too hot clean and tidy. Breakfast excellant large choice but go by 8 am queues after that. Start the day early and get the most out of London. All the staff on the ball knowledgeable and helpful. Thankyou for a good weekend
Rooms, staff and facilities were excellent. Superb breakfast facilities. HOWEVER, two rooms out of the 5 booked had a very loud humming noise ALL night long coming from a row of fan units below their windows : humming noise to the extent those persons in those rooms could not sleep at all. As we were there for one night only we did not raise the issue with the hotel but future guests should be aware.
Hotel was conveniently located for Oxford Street, Covent Gardens and sightseeing
Breakfast organisation lets this hotel down. Huge queue was bad enough, but the staff were trying to stack finished trays across the queue. H&S considerations notwithstanding, the offer was quite restricted and slow in the hot food area, where most people were going. Suggest split out the hot and cold offers so that it`s not like a school dinner or canteen experience!
On first reflections clean and welcoming Hotel frontage and Reception long queue when booking in but cleared quick and professional in no time, rooms basic but clean Breakfast Excellent and well staffed would use again
I have now used the St Giles Hotel many times. Location is ideal and price [for central London]. The location is excellent for me [near to St Pancras / theatreland etc] and for my business meetings. Always clean it is a shame the rooms are not a little bigger but there we are. Staff can be a little distant but are fine for such a busy hotel.
booked this hotel just as a stopover for one night was a bit puzzled when the housekeeping lady was knocking on the door at 8 45 this morning when we were going to check out after breakfast tried to explain this to her but she was not english . dont think she understood as she came back again my daughter was in the shower so had to send her away again. was very pleased with the hotel though very clean staff were all verey polite and helpful well done
We used the hotel because of the price and may well do so again. The bed was comfortable, if rather small and the room scrupulously clean. The breakfast was of poor calibre - but you get what you pay for.
Good, efficient hotel within easy walking of British Museum, National Gallery, Shaftsbury Avenue. We would stay there again
Was really pleased with the hotel and location as so clost to Tottenham Court Road Tube, so easy access to everything.
Perfect for our stay, walking distance to theatres; small but comfortable room and decent breakfast which starts at 6.30am
Reception was good, helpful and courteousBreakfast, had no note we had pre paid for a hot breakfast but as I had my conformation with me it was no problem, if I hadn`t I think there could have been a problem. The breakfast was acceptable but lack lustre.
Hotel staff were always very helpful. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice.
For this price, can`t knock it. Single room did mean single room though. Pretty compact. Minimalistic hospitality tray and toiletries, in keeping with budget price rather than 4* rating. Leisure club is a big bonus, but I had no time to try it. PLeasant efficient reception
Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast very good. Single rooms are small, but as you spend very little time in them it is not a problem.
I got a room on the sevent floor right next to the lift.not an ideal room to stay in.Every time the lift stopped on that floor i could hare every thing that day were saying. All so felt like walking down the stair`s a few times, the lift`s are way two small and slow for a hotel that size
After reading reviews for this hotel I was quite apprehensive about our stay here this weekend but was pleasantly surprised, staff helpful, room small but had everything we needed, location great and breakfast lovely with great choice! Will definitely be back.
Ok hotel, good value for money. Only let down was the scrum at breakfast, totally disorganised, was like going to McDonald`s. Never been to hotel where they just leave you to find own table for breakfast and just keep letting more and more people into the room when there`s nowhere to sit.
Really enjoyed Our stay and wouldn`t hesitate to use you again if we were down London. All staff were friendly polite and helpful. Thank you Chris Hopkinson
No problems other than trying to open the shampoo sachets!
Yes it was a double room but only by virtue of the fact that it contained a double bed. The room was very small and the bathroom was even smaller and in need of a facelift.
I would suggest a minibar in the rooms.
Lovely hotel! very comfortable. Excellent staff in the restaurant. efficient staff at reception. would recommend to anyone planning a theatre trip.
Great location, rooms could do with curtains instead of the blinds, and more lifts would be a good idea at busier times. Breakfast was good. Staff very friendly.
Apart from our room not being serviced on the 1st January we had a pleasant stay. We did`nt complain at the time because we had spent the whole day in London and were so tired when we returned to our room, so I made the beds myself
Yes a very smart hotel from the outside and foyer ,The rooms small clean and tidy 1 chair in a double room ( no where to put a second ) Breakfast was school canteen style complete with chaps putting hot food on your plates .swimming pool yes small charge £10.00 for 2 to swim not a small charge as we did want to use the complete gym just the pool.. The lifts there are 4 main lifts small and quite slow, the corrdoors where very plain (factory works corridoor type ) the sleep was good but woken up by noisy people ( not the hotels fault just in consderate customers )overall if you want cheap then it great for you but we won`t be staying again .M Bennett
The hotel suited our purpose, it was basic and comfy. I didn`t have my tea tray replenished in my room, I used the 2 milk and 2 teabags. My family were staying on a different floor and they had plenty of tea and coffee. I had plenty of hot water on the fifth floor whereas they were on the third and it was lukewarm. The breakfast was good if you could get in the dining room. The queue for breakfast on the Saturday was ridiculous, about 100 deep. The lifts were always busy and I had to carry my suitcase upstairs. Great base id you are not expecting much. I might add the staff were lovely but the hotel seemed far too busy for good service.
